Events at a Glance
Put it Down, Save a Life – seniors will experience several different scenarios throughout the day. Seniors will be called out of class by alphabet all day long.
Adopt-A-Senior assembly – seniors who took part in the adopt-a-senior letter exchange will take part in an assembly during 6th period.
April 26/27: Graduation talk
Mr. Ponce, the graduation announcer, will visit senior English classes these two days. It is your opportunity to tell him how to pronounce your name for graduation.
April 28: Senior Walks

Willie Brown Elementary
The senior walk is scheduled for April 28th. Seniors that are former WBE students should come by 7:30am wearing a college or career shirt representing their future path. Enjoy breakfast provided by the teachers and PTA and then following announcements, they will do their walk to lively graduation music and cheering students throughout the hallways.
PLEASE e-mail a Willie Brown school picture and Senior picture to firstname.lastname@example.org. Include your name with the pictures, where you will be attending college, and your major in the e-mail message. Deadline is April 1st. You can also e-mail other pictures of your time at Willie Brown Elementary as well.
The Senior walk is scheduled for April 28th. Seniors that are former Boren Bear students should show up in their cap and gown at 7:30. Enjoy breakfast by the PTA and parents and then following the announcements, they will do their walk to vibrant graduation music and cheering students throughout the hallways.
Students need to RSVP by clicking this link so we will have a headcount and be able to let Mrs. Young know who is attending. We will be taking attendance so you will not be counted absent. You MUST be wearing your student id or have your driver's license for raptor to get a badge to do the walk. If your parents are wanting to come to watch, they will need to run their driver's license to get a badge through the office to be able to watch and participate!
Also Mr. Williams and Mrs. Pierce will be here to help make breakfast for the Seniors! :)

Roberta Tipps Elementary
Roberta Tipps Elementary is having a Senior Breakfast at 7:30 in the cafeteria on April 28th. Around 8:30am the students will line the halls and we will “clap out” the Seniors. Seniors should wear their caps and gowns with college shirts representing where they will be attending in the fall.
Martha Reid Elementary
When: Friday, April 28th 7:15 till about 8:45
Where: Martha Reid Cafeteria – park by cafeteria and wear College t-shirt with jeans. Bring cap and gown (Leave in car to put on after breakfast)

We are also asking students to send pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org for the slideshow. Would love to have a senior picture for every student and a MRE picture as well. If not we will take candids or group photos.
April 28: Senior Panoramic
MHS Senior Class of 2017 will be taking their senior panoramic in front of the school. Students will begin lining up by height in the gym at 10:15. Check out pricing and pickup information here.
April 28: Senior Slideshow submission deadline
Want to submit photos for the senior slideshow? Email them to: email@example.com.
The senior slideshow plays at prom and graduation. Students are encouraged to submit photos that capture moments over the last four years. Though some "throwback" pictures might be included if they show a group of students, the slideshow does not include baby pictures.
April 28: Senior Field Trip permission slip and money deadline
The Senior Class will be going on a field trip to Alley Cats on May 19. Cost is $20. See flyers and permission slips outside U-13 and R-17 for more information.
May 17: AP Celebration Day
Students in AP classes will enjoy some time outside in a simulated field day. There will be food, games, and fun! Freshmen and Sophomore classes will enjoy the morning; Junior and Senior classes will enjoy the afternoon.
May 19: Senior Field Trip
The Senior Class will be going on a field trip to Alley Cats. Cost is $20. See flyers and permission slips outside U-13 and R-17 for more information.
May 22: Senior Awards
A special awards evening is planned to celebrate seniors. Seniors receiving awards will receive invitations ahead of time. More information to come.
May 22-26: Senior Week
This week is Senior Week at MHS and the seniors have planned several fun activities to celebrate their last full week of grade school! Check out the flyer for easy viewing or the details below.
Monday, May 22nd:
- Dress-Up Theme: Pajama Day
- 9:30 - 10:30 AM: There will be a Put It Down Save a Life Assembly in the MHS PAC where a special guest speaker will talk to the students about driving responsibly.
- 6:00 PM: We will have Senior Awards in the MHS Cafeteria to recognize outstanding seniors. Due to limited space, seniors and their families will come by invitation only.
Tuesday, May 23rd:
- Dress-Up Theme: Transformation Day (dress as your past self)
- After School: There will be a Student vs. Staff Softball Game at the MHS Softball Field that is free for anyone to attend. Thanks to Coach Haltom for organizing this game!
Wednesday, May 24th:
- Dress-Up Theme: College Shirt Day
- Advisory: We will have a Senior Assembly in the PAC where seniors will be able to get up on stage and say a few words to their peers. (The seniors currently have found two speakers for this, so if you have seniors who might like to speak, let us know and we can pass the message along!)
- 6:00 - 9:00 PM: There will be a Senior Skate Night at Arlington Skatium open to all MHS seniors to come out and skate around together.
Thursday, May 25th:
- Dress-Up Theme: Senior Dress-Up Day
- Advisory: All teachers and students are invited to come out and watch a Student vs. Staff Basketball Game in the Varsity Gym. This will be free for all. Thanks to Coach Speakes for organizing this game!
- 5:00 - 8:00 PM: There will be a Senior Picnic at Rose Park in Mansfield where all MHS seniors are encouraged to come and hang out together.
Friday, May 26th:
- Dress-Up Theme: Beach Day
- After School: There will be a 7-on-7 Football Tournament on the MHS Football Field with students playing and coaches reffing. This game will be free for anyone to attend and will give our senior boys one last chance to get out on the field and play together. Thanks to Coach Maberry for organizing this tournament!
May 27: Prom at the Omni
Need information about prom? Check out the informational flyer that was given out at the last senior class meeting.
Prom tickets go on sale March 28-May 5. Students must CLEAR ALL FINES with the book keeper prior to receiving a guest form. Once the form is filled out, students may purchase tickets. Tickets are $85 each.
May 28: Gold Rush (after prom)
Tickets on sale Thursdays and Fridays (where you buy cookies from PTSA).
May 29: Sunset
Celebrate with your classmates our final event. We will have food, music, and fun. More details to come.
June 2: Graduation (2:30pm at Center for Performing Arts)
Seniors will receive 8 tickets. Make sure all fines are clear!! See additional memo for more information about graduation and tickets.
- May 18 – 8 tickets can be picked up
- May 24 – lottery distribution for remaining tickets
- May 30 – graduation rehearsal 3pm MHS cafeteria
- June 2 – arrive at MHS cafeteria by 11:45am
Senior Class is selling shirts. Class Shirts are available at registration for $15. We will also take additional orders the first two weeks of school. Stop by Mrs. Boydstun's room (R17( to pick up an order form (or download here). Order forms and money due by noon on September 2nd. Shirts will be delivered September 12.
Seniors are selling blackout shirts. Join us for our annual rivalry game against Summit - the first Friday of school! Everyone will be wearing their blackout shirts to school Friday, August 26, as we enjoy our first pep rally and then later that night, we will black out the stadium with Tiger Pride.
Shirts are selling fast! If you didn't get yours at registration, we will place a second order and sell additional shirts the first few days of school until they run out!

Events Coming Up
Senior Sunrise: What a great kickoff to our Senior year! Come celebrate your last, first day of high school. We will have donuts, drinks, music and more. We begin at 6:30am on the MHS football field and will have a balloon send-off at sunrise.
Senior Tailgate: Join us for a fun night of tailgating before the Senior Night football game (October 27) at Newsom Stadium. Enjoy food, drinks, music and more! Time TBD.
Seniors and parents – Join PTSA!
PTSA is one of our biggest supporters. They make great senior events like Sunrise, Tailgate, After Prom, Sunset, and more possible. They also offer scholarships to seniors! To be eligible, seniors must be members of PTSA.
