Students, if you have not had a yearbook photo taken yet, today is your last chance. The photographers are in the Distance Learning Lab, next to the library. You are responsible for finding a time to have your photo taken. This is for all grade levels.

Interested in taking the SAT?   On December 3, MHS will be a testing site for the SAT test.  Regular registration for this test has passed; however, late registration is open through Tuesday, November 22.  Don’t delay….go to collegeboard.org to register today!

Retakes will be in the Distance Learning Lab, next to the library.  Students, it is very important to know that YOU are responsible for finding time to go to the DLL for retakes. No one will send for you. Obviously, the best time would be during your lunch or advisory. Seniors can come during their senior release time. Just make sure you are photographed, because we want you in the yearbook!!

5 Nov 2016 the Mansfield JROTC Drill Team competed in the Cowtown Classic Drill Meet Ft. Worth TX. The Drill Team competed against over 40 programs 3 from Oklahoma and the rest from Texas. Results are as follows.

No food or drink will be permitted inside The Center. We look forward to your participation.

Congrats to the boys golf team for winning the A&M consolidated Tiger Classic this past weekend!! Great job Peyton Coursey, Landon Ernst, Luke Davidson, Garrison Smith, and Chase Wilson… also extra good job goes out to Peyton Coursey for taking low medalist with rounds of 71-65!!!  The boys finished the fall season ranked 2nd in the state…. Great job boys golf!!!!

The Tiger Cross Country teams wrapped up their seasons this past Saturday in Lubbock at Regionals.  The boys team was led by senior Ryan Sterling as they finished in 18th place overall.  The girls team was led by Anara Ickes, who finished in the top 25 individual spots, while the team placed 10th overall.  Congrats to all of the members of the Tiger and Lady Tiger cross country team on another great season.  We are proud of you. 

It’s time to get creative!  The PTA Reflections program is underway.  This year’s theme is “What is your story?”.  Students may submit their original work in any or all of the six art categories… Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Musical Composition, Photography, or Visual Arts.  Guidelines and entry forms are available online at http://www.txpta.org/programs/reflections/participate.  Entries must be turned in to the front office no later than 3:00 pm today to be eligible for judging. “This weekend, the Mansfield swim and dive teams traveled to San Angelo for the San Angelo Invitational. The boys finished 3rd out of and the girls finished in 2nd place out of 14. The girls finished 2nd in the 200 Medley relay, 5th in the 200 free relay and 1st in the 400 free relay. Sara McClendon won the 200 and 500 freestyles, Lauren Thompson won the 200 IM and finished 2nd in the 100 breaststroke, Maddie Mechling finished 3rd in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly. Ryan McClendon finished 5th in the 50 freestyle and 6th in the 100 freestyle and Payton Arber finished 6th in the 500 freestyle and 6th in the 100 backstroke. The boys won the 200 Medley Relay, finished 6th in the 200 free relay and 3rd in the 400 free relay. Andrew Limpert won the 200 freestyle and set a new pool record in that event. He also finished third in the 100 butterfly. Dominic Gonzales finished 4th in the 50 and 100 freestyles, Arnoldo Cisneros-Siller finished 2nd in the 200 IM and won the 100 breaststroke. Daniel Drennan finished 6th in the 50 freestyle and Rett Stewart finished 3rd in the 500 freestyle. The next swim and dive meet will be Tuesday November 1st against Arlington Martin. Come support your seniors in their final home dual meet! The meet starts at 6pm.”

In honor of national red ribbon week- Did you know that over 60% of teens report that drugs of some kind are kept, sold, and used at their school ? Let’s keep our school drug free! Say no to drugs!

Those of you dressing up for Halloween on Monday, pay close attention to the following guidelines:

-No one is allowed to wear a clown suit or dress like a clown in ANY way.

-No masks are to be worn or face covered

Honor Rolls are posted!  For those of you who are new to MHS this year, it is a tradition that every six weeks the A and AB honor rolls are framed in the hallway leading to the cafeteria.  Way to go TIGERS!

It’s time to get creative!  The PTA Reflections program is underway.  This year’s theme is “What is your story?”.  Students may submit their original work in any or all of the six art categories… Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Musical Composition, Photography, or Visual Arts.  Guidelines and entry forms are available online at http://www.txpta.org/programs/reflections/participate.  Entries must be turned in to the front office no later than 3:00 pm on Monday, October 31 to be eligible for judging. Congrats to the Tiger Cross Country teams who competed yesterday for the district championships.  The Girls varsity made it Back to Back district championships as they won going away.  The Boys varsity ran hard but fell just short to Martin by 6 points.  The Girls JV finished 2nd, but Bethany Cook was the overall winner of the race.  The boys JV finished  3rd and ran well but did not have any runners place.  Your Regional qualifying runners for girls are: Alessia Williams, Alyssa Ramirez, Anara Ickes, Ariana Marquez, , Hannah Allred, Jenisse Williams, and Meagan Lewis

National Day of testing is Wednesday, Oct 19.

9th graders will take the 8/9 Plan test.

10th and 11th grade will take the PSAT. 9th and 10th graders, please bring a calculator with you. Calculators will be provided for all juniors.

Seniors, you will meet in the cafeteria Wednesday morning. Your day will include breakfast provided by the senior class. After breakfast we will have games and movies for you in the gyms. We will have sign in sheets in order to take attendance.

Seniors who have late arrival will report to the cafeteria at 9:00 to sign in.

If you want to take a college visit, this would be a great day to do that visit. Just make sure you bring documentation for the college.

MISD College & Career Night is Wednesday, November 2, 2016 from 6-8:00 PM at the MISD Center for the Performing Arts. Be lines and register early at www.gotocollegefairs.com. Financial aid and college testing seminars will begin at 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Come early and have dinner. The Food Court on the plaza will open at 5:00 PM.No food or drink will be permitted inside The Center. We look forward to your participation

It’s time to get creative!  The PTA Reflections program is underway.  This year’s theme is “What is your story?”.  Students may submit their original work in any or all of the six art categories… Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Musical Composition, Photography, or Visual Arts.  Guidelines and entry forms are available online at http://www.txpta.org/programs/reflections/participate.  Entries must be turned in to the front office no later than 3:00 pm on Monday, October 31 to be eligible for judging. There will be a HOSA ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE Fundraiser on October 22nd at Rose Park.  Zombie 5K check-in is at 4:00 pm.  You must register by October 15th to assure a t-shirt.  If you register by October 6th, the cost is $25, after that, the cost is $30.   There will be a DJ and photo booth and we will have a spooktacular time!

Last night, the Mansfield Swim and Dive teams competed against Keller High. In a very tough meet, the girls lost to the defending Region champs 100-86. The boys battled hard and had many great swims to come away with a victory 105-79. Winning events for the Tigers were Maddie Mechling, Lauren Thompson, Sara McClendon, Ryan McClendon, Daniel Drennan, Arnoldo Cisneros- Siller, Andrew Limpert, Dominic Gonzales, and Chase Adler. The Tigers travel to Southlake this Saturday for the Dragon Hunt Invitational.

This week’s dress up day is Inside Out day on Friday. Wear your clothes inside out or dress up like the movie characters from Disney’s Inside Out.

Wednesday and Thursday Student Council is hosting a voter registration drive in the cafeteria during all lunches. If you are 18 or older you are eligible to vote in the upcoming election on November 8th. Come up to the stage in the cafeteria and register to vote!   Teachers- if you are needing to update your voter registration this is for you too!   

“Tuesday night the Mansfield boys and girls swim and dive teams kicked off their season against Byron Nelson High School. Against the same team last year, the boys team lost by 35 points and the girls tied. Fueled by the disappointment of last year’s results, the swimmers and divers aimed for a much different result last night. The boys won 10 of 12 events and beat Byron Nelson 108-75. The girls won all 12 events and beat Byron Nelson 110-73. Congratulations to event winners Sara McClendon, Ryan McClendon, Lauren Thompson, Maddie Mechling, Marli Wallace, Bryanna Matkovich, Hailey Hoffman, Lindsey Decker, Arnoldo Cisneros-Siller, Andrew Limpert, Dominic Gonzales, Daniel Drennan, Chase Adler, and Ryan Andrews. Varsity Tiger Tennis completed their fall team season last week.  They did an outstanding job and went undefeated, taking 1st place in district.  Way to go Tiger Tennis!!!

The MHS Varsity XC teams ran in Round Rock this weekend and all the runners did extremely well.  Top finisher for the boys was Ryan Sterling and for the girls Alyssa Rameriz. This week all 4 teams are back in action Friday in the Mansfield Invitational. Come out and support your Tiger runners.

The dance is semi-formal and will have free waters and a dessert buffet. Tickets are  $20 Sept. 26-30, and $25 at the door. Tickets will be sold in R3 or at the bookkeeper’s office.

Homecoming shirts are now on sale! The cost is $15. You can purchase at the StuCo store and in Mrs. Golden’s room , R3.

The Gold Dusters will be having a dance clinic on Saturday, October 8th from 8-12 in the cafeteria.  Come see what drill team is all about and learn a dance combo and learn pre-game to perform with the Gold Dusters at the Pink Out game.  If you register by this Friday the cost is $25.  At the door the clinic is $30.  Registration forms can be picked up from Mrs. Hazelwood in the dance room.

Students:  You are NOT allowed to cross Broad Street unless you are crossing at a crosswalk.  If you are caught crossing the street anywhere other than at a crosswalk, you will be issued a ticket!

Seniors – senior t-shirts have finally arrived. Senior officers are working to distribute shirts to those that ordered them. Deliveries begin tomorrow during advisory.

The dance is semi-formal and will have free waters and a dessert buffet. Tickets are $20 Sept. 26-30, and $25 at the door. Tickets will be sold in R3 or at the bookkeeper’s office.

Homecoming shirts are now on sale! The cost is $15. You can purchase at the StuCo store and in Mrs. Golden’s room , R3.

ASA has moved their meeting on Tuesday the 27th to the library. Anyone can join to celebrate various cultures of the world. See you there!

Are you a junior or senior that is considering attending Prairie View A & M?  Please join us September 29th at 6:30 PM at The Center for the Performing Arts for Panther Pride night.  Representatives from PVAMU will be there to talk about the admission process, financial aid and answer any questions you may have.

Freshmen!! Calling one, calling all- if you are available TODAY after school please come to B-hall and help support Spirit, Pride and Tradition by helping with the homecoming hallways!! Let's show the other classes what we are made of! We hope to see as many of you there as possible!!

See you at the Pole is this Wednesday at 6:30 in the morning!  We will gather to pray for our friends, our school, and our country at the flag pole in front of MHS.  Join us as we unite in prayer.

Students wishing to request a schedule change for a Pre AP or AP class may now pick up the change request forms in the counseling office. These forms are due by this Friday Sept. 30th and must be filled out completely. Incomplete forms will not be accepted. This form is for a level change only and cannot be used for any other schedule change. 

Congrats to the boys golf team for winning the largest golf tourny in the country on Saturday!   Good job Peyton Coursey, Landon Ernst, Luke Davidson, Chase Wilson and Garrison Smith!  Also extra good job goes out to Landon Ernst for shooting a school record of 64 on the final round! Great job o-line.

There will be No pre-sell football tickets this week for Friday’s game through the bookkeeper.   You may only purchase tickets either online at paschal athletics website (there is a convenience fee) or at the gate.   Prices are $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for students.

Attention Juniors:  Josten’s will be on campus taking your ring orders during lunch today.  You will need your first payment of at least $50.00 and your order form to place your order.  Remember, you can print off your order form online at www.jostens.com to speed up the ordering process here at school.

Seniors in the top 10 percent of their class are encouraged to come by and pick up registration information to attend “Aggieland 101”  at College Station on October 17. This is an all-expense paid trip to College Station. Registration forms must be completed by Oct. 3. Space is limited to eligible seniors who are in the Top 10% of their graduating class or Top half of their class with at least a 1360 on the New Sat or 1300 or the old SAT.

Seniors: The Black Former Student Network Summit in Aggieland will be held Oct. 14-15, 2016 in College Station. The DFW Regional Prospective Student Center & Texas A & M Black Former Student Network invites you to join them for a FREE, overnight trip to Aggiland. Please come by the Counseling Office and pick up a flyer if interested.  Requirements: Must meet automatic admission criteria (Top 10% or Academic Admit)
